Hang tags with a hole, folded tent cards, shelf-edge strips or a sheet of labels — or a run of yard sale price stickers. Free PDF, A4 or US Letter.

How to use it

  1. Paste your items with their prices — add an old price for a sale, a size for the unit price — or choose a price range or blank tags.
  2. Pick the currency, then the style: hang tags, tent cards, shelf strips or a label sheet.
  3. Download the PDF, print at 100% and cut on the grey lines (labels need no cutting).

How the numbers are worked out

Prices are read in your currency’s smallest unit, so the arithmetic is exact: the saving is the old price minus the new; the percentage off is rounded down, never up; and the unit price is the price times the unit over the pack size, rounded to the nearest cent. Grams, kilograms, ounces, pounds, millilitres, litres and fluid ounces convert by their exact definitions. Each tag’s text is then sized to the tag, the price as large as it fits. For barcodes on the same sheets, use the barcode label generator.

Keeps these settings in the link. Useful for moving from a phone to the computer with the printer on it.

Frequently asked questions

How do I make price tags from a list?

Type or paste one item a line: the name, a bar ( | ) and the price, for example “Handmade mug | 12.00”. Add an old price after another bar to show a sale, and a size such as 500 g, 12 oz, 750 ml or 6 pcs to show the unit price: “Olive oil | 7.49 | 9.99 | 750 ml”. A list copied from a spreadsheet works too — its columns arrive separated by tabs. Each line becomes a tag.

How is the percentage off worked out?

From the two prices: (old price − new price) ÷ old price × 100, rounded down to a whole percent so the tag never claims more than the real saving. $9.99 reduced to $7.49 is 25.03% and the tag says 25% off; $10.00 to $6.67 is 33.3% and it says 33% off. Choose “Save amount” to show the difference instead ($2.50), or both.

How is the unit price calculated?

The price divided by the pack size, multiplied up to the unit, and rounded to the nearest cent: $3.99 for 500 g is $7.98 per kg, or $0.80 per 100 g. Pounds and ounces are converted exactly (1 lb = 453.59237 g, 1 oz = 28.349523125 g) so a price per ounce can be shown for a pack sold in grams. Liquids are priced per litre, per 100 ml or per US fluid ounce, and packs counted in pieces per item. Automatic uses per kg or per litre for metric sizes and per ounce for sizes in ounces or pounds.

What are the tag styles for?

Hang tags have the top corners cut off and a hole mark to punch, for string or a tagging gun — clothes, crafts and gifts. Tent cards are folded on the dashed line and stand on a table or shelf, with the price on both faces. Shelf-edge strips are rows of labels with no gap, to cut into strips for a shelf’s price channel. The label sheet prints on ready-cut sticky labels in the layout of common sheets, including the 30-up US Letter sheet and round stickers.

Can I make yard sale price stickers?

Yes. Choose “A price range”, set the lowest price, the highest and the step — for example 25¢ to $10 in steps of 25¢ — and how many copies of each, then print on a sheet of labels (round sticker labels suit them) or as tags to cut out. Or choose blank tags and write the prices by hand.

Which currencies does it use?

About twenty, each written the way its country writes it: $12.00, £12.00, 12,00 €, CHF 12.00, ¥1,200 and so on. The currency follows your browser’s region at first and can be changed. Amounts with cents show cents; whole amounts on a tag with no cents print as $12.

Is my price list stored or shared?

No. The list and the shop line you type stay in your browser: the tags are drawn on your device and nothing is uploaded. “Continue on another device” carries the layout, sizes and currency, never your items or prices.

Are the labels compatible with Avery sheets?

The label sheet layouts match the sizes and positions of the sheets they name, such as Avery 5160 for the 30-up US Letter sheet. PrintReadyKit is not affiliated with Avery. Sheets differ by a few tenths of a millimetre between makers, so print one page on plain paper first and hold it against a label sheet.
